Patience and Joy in the Midst of Chaos

In another episode of a Sunday Special, Joyce and Juancho decided to do Sunday specials together every week to share concerning what God has taught them for the past week. The topic of the discussion on this episode will be faith with regards to faith-related questions from listeners.

What has God been teaching you this week?

On this episode, we will be talking about one of my favorite questions I always ask Juancho which is “What has God been teaching you this week?” and every time we ask each other this question, our answers are always new. Especially right now with the pandemic and lockdowns, along with us becoming parents in just a couple of weeks, there are so many lessons and realizations. (JP)

In general, I think God has been teaching me patience the whole time of pandemic. Specifically, last week, what God has impressed in my heart is how to deal with people in a loving way despite the challenging moments. As enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) season 2 happened, tapings, brands, and campaigns stopped, it has been financially and mentally tough for us. And the way I see it is that what we can do right now is be patient and cling to God who never changes. (JT)

For me, the thing that struck me the most was the importance of handling time in the manner that God is glorified and honored. It is good to be reminded that no matter how much time you’ve wasted in sin, God can restore those years to you once you surrender everything to Him. (JP)

Time is a perishable good. It’s either you waste it because you’re never going to get it back, or you invest it.

Was there an instance when you felt like it is an opportunity for you to be patient?

Having situations when we need to be patient, most of us do not actually know how to become more Christ-like in the way that we deal with people. But in spite this knowledge we lack, it is definitely important to be Christ-like and loving in the ways we are patient with others and even ourselves.

○ Talking to God is the foundation of everything. Prayer will guide our relationship with God. Also, having time with people who hone you and sharpen your armor is very important. Bible studies, spending time with mentors and small groups will help in adjusting our perspectives in a way we shouldn’t be anxious for anything. In prayer, make your requests known to God. (JT)

Whenever we feel anxious, the verse that says “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus,” means that no matter what situation we are in, there will be peace, patience, joy in our hearts for the Holy Spirit works in our lives at all times. And even if the things around us do not make sense and make us impatient, and anxious, we will still have those fruits of the Holy Spirit because God is the One who guards our hearts and minds. (JP)

Not to the extent that we should just lie and do nothing knowing that everything will be alright in God’s time, we still have to be good stewards of our time.

It’s Never Too Late to Run to God

Be mindful and assess ourselves if we are being good stewards of our time. Nonetheless, God will restore the time that has been wasted on the things that didh’t honor Him and didn’t help us grow. There’s still hope, it’s never too late. (JT)

That’s a great reminder for a lot of us who are ashamed to run to the Lord anymore because we believe we’ve sin so greatly against Him. But that’s also why the Gospel is beautiful, God knows the sins of our hearts, but He loves us so much and that His power is sufficient for our weaknesses. (JP)

Give the Glory to God

○ As mere human beings, giving glory to God is crucial. Whenever our businesses thrive, things go well, we give glory to God. b\Because if we just depend on our skills and capabilities, we can’t do it. If it is just up to us, our marriage, businesses, and work won’t be successful. Therefore, we always give the Lord all the glory and praise. (JT)

There’s a verse in Acts, I believe, which states that the Holy Spirit will give you the power to become the things you think you cannot become. Run towards God, because of all the things that you cannot be, the Holy Spirit will enable you to be that. (JP)
