“THE ONE WHERE I BLABBER FOR 32 MINUTES STRAIGHT” EP. 3 SHOW NOTES FROM THE PODCAST:
We all have experienced nights where our minds are restless and just won't let us sleep. Unfortunately, today is one of those nights, so we thought, what better time to record a raw podcast episode? After 6 takes in the wee hours of the morning, we are back with a very raw and sporadic episode featuring tips to fall asleep, Joyce's journey as a radio jock to Christ's undying love.
TIPS TO FALL ASLEEP
1.) When you can't sleep, just be honest to yourself that you are going through something difficult or you are going through a bad season.
Lets face it, most of the time, we can’t sleep because something unhealthy is happening internally or around you. Acknowledge this and identify what the problem is.
2.) When you can’t sleep, stop thinking about sleeping and try to do something else.
You can try reading a book, journalling, listening to audio books and podcasts (ehem… aka this podcast).
3.) If you enjoy writing, try journalling. This can help you in processing your emotions.
Write the things you are struggling with and the things you are grateful for. When you look at these 5 or 10 years later, you will realize how much you changed, how blessed you actually were and how these challenges helped you grow into the person you are today.
4.) Lie down, turn off the lights and take deep breaths. As you breathe, think about simple things such as the things you are going to do the next day from your morning coffee to driving to work. This is an oldie but a goodie; it always works in helping you calm down and drift off to sleep.
ON JOYCE’S JOURNEY AS A RADIO JOCK
Joyce has gone through numerous podcasts and shows such as NMF TV and Star World’s “Food Trip” but she realized she did not become a professional in hosting till she got training in radio.
Through radio, she honed the basics-- how to speak, handle a mic and carry a conversation. Boom Gonzales, Joyce’s good friend and fellow radio jock, made her realize and correct her mistakes such as the way she didn’t pronounce her “t”s and her tendency to drag her words.
After working as a radio jock for 3 and a half years, Joyce decided to quit radio, not because of GMA but because her goals have changed. She was going through a difficult time in 2017, and this caused a shift in her perspective. Joyce wanted to pursue a quieter lifestyle and go back to her roots--writing and painting. However, after praying and fasting, God gave her signs that she should go back to the industry. Now, we can see Joyce hosting in GMA’s daily show, Unang Hirit.
ON GOD’S LOVE
Learn to see things in God’s perspective instead of your own. Take a moment and think about how the God of this entire beautiful universe loves you.
With Christ, we do not need to fear anything. Even the thought of dying transforms from fear to joy once you realize that through death, you will see the face of God and finally be with Him.
God’s love liberates you-- it makes you feel liberated to make mistakes, to be fearless and to love fully, because at the end of the day, you do not have to gain God’s love as you do with other people. God loves you for who you are, and this is the number one assurance that anyone can ever need.
