Breaking Free from Anxiety Trap

There are a lot of things in life that will make us feel trapped: regrets, anxieties, failures, disappointments, pain, difficulties, and many more. We, humans, are not pain-proof and so as our minds, we are wired to feel hurt and react towards it, most of the time, we let it sink into the compartments of our minds and hide it until it begins to break free. In this episode, Joyce and Wil Dasovich shared their own anxiety traps and what point did they break free, and how God opened doors of healing for them.

In our search for a deeper understanding of our mind's voice, there are earthly things we found temporary solace in, some of which come in a form of a drink, a smoke, or even pills. Joyce admitted that she herself has found medication through alcohol and cigarettes, and it makes her happy for a while, then she realizes that this lifestyle affected her and the people around her negatively and that she needs to pull a stop.

Seeking help should never be a burden, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to understand what you’re going through, why you’re feeling things, and what’s really happening in your mind. The urge to be better is a step toward healing, and you can only start the process when you accept that you are not okay and it is fine to feel that way.

That lifestyle affected me negatively and I didn’t want to go through that anymore

When is the right time to seek professional help?

It is important to know when to seek help, it can be a difficult thing to do as many people, especially in the Philippines has an unwarranted stigma about mental health and illness but it is a way to differentiate what is manageable emotions from more serious conditions.

If stress is too much to bear and is affecting not only your physical and emotional state.

Anxiety becomes debilitating and has manifested its way in affecting our functions this is also a sign to seek professional help.

Bad days become normal and so as depression bad days should remain to be days and not a bad life.

Extreme emotions and mood swings. Too much of everything are never a good thing.

What are other ways you do to achieve better mental health?

○ Seek professional help. It can help you cope up and understand what you’re going through better, with the tools, and strategies that will work for you.

○ Take a break from things that hold you back and trigger your anxieties.
It is okay to rest deliberately, calm your anxieties by writing your thoughts.

○ Find value and purpose in the things you do.
Appreciate and acknowledge your progress, whether small or big it leads you closer to achieving your goals.

○ Distract yourself from the negativities.
Refocus on the things that makes you happy, and transcends positivity.

○ Be okay with not being okay
. Allow yourself to feel all the emotions and accept your thoughts, sensations, and feelings.

What did God do to help you achieve your healing?

God reveals Himself to His creations. Joyce shared that God helped her find the way to Him in the darkest moment of her life, after trying a lot of things to be okay, her faith has led her to God. Being able to express what we believe in is absolute truth and still welcoming other views as God gave us free will to love Him or not, there’s free will to also not love Him. We can express our faith and truth but we leave it to people to accept it.
