How to Set Healthy Boundaries

How can we protect our space and set healthy boundaries? How can we turn our mistakes into challenges that will help us become better? On this episode of Adulting with Joyce Pring, Angely Dub joins her as they talk about having a healthy lifestyle – physically, emotionally and mentally – and how she was able to pivot her current business and start other successful ventures this pandemic.

Angely Dub on Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

○ Physically - I always workout because no one’s gonna do it for me. If I don’t execute it no one will do it for me. Think how it will benefit you in the long-term not just for the time being.

○ Emotionally - I don’t give access to everyone when it comes to my private life. I’m just a human being and I can’t be there for everyone even when I want to. At some point, we have to learn how to have that space in our lives because we need to value our time very well. With my emotions, I don’t share it with everyone because not everyone really celebrates your success with you – and that’s the reality of life.

○ Mentally - I control the amount of information I want to go inside my head. Why consume so much energy on learning something you can’t do anything about?

Setting Healthy Boundaries

Let the people around you know what you’re up to so you get to have a great support system. Be strong enough to say, “No”. Mind your own business – you are not never obliged to share everything with the world. It’s a fundamental of life, you shouldn’t be just sharing everything to everyone.

YOU HAVE TO PROTECT YOUR SPACE. You can have the power of your privacy even in this day and age of the social media. You are not required to post everything online. Being able to drawn the line for your own space takes a lot of self-awareness, that’s gonna propel you to success.

Experiences that

Shaped Angely

○ In Personal Aspect - Resilience. Learning that soon you’ll look at those storms of the past with a mindset that, “Hey, self! See that? You did that!”. Those where just stories to read on our kids someday. Learning her own strengths and weaknesses.

○ In Business Aspect - Having a failure. Dedicating my life not just for herself but also for the people around her – family, friends, co-workers and employees.

My purpose changes depend on the circumstance where I am

Shifting Awareness

My mind that always wants to learn helped with the progress I’ve made throughout my life. It’s myself, my dedication to always learn from everything that I encountered in my life – I never considered one failure as a closed door. (AD)

○ I never gave up on anything. I just don’t compete with anyone but myself. I see criticisms as the one that teaches you most of the best lesson in my life. (AD)

○ You have to be inquisitive. Have a learning mentality. You not only learn from experiences but also from what you are feeling and going through as an individual – that’s how you learn self-awareness. When you’re constantly curious, it changes everything. (JP)

○ I never minded anyone. If it’s your ego all the time, you will never go anywhere. (AD)

Having the humility to understand that you won’t always get it right is one of the most powerful things that you can do.

Tips to be Better

In Personal Aspect

Be a different person outside your business. You can be two different individual.

In Business Aspect

Passion changes based on circumstances where you are.

You’ll never going to have a guide.

Your business will be always you.
