The Five People You Need In Your Life

We all have a network of people we’re surrounded by, and often we hear the phrase “you become the 5 people you most hangout with.” But little did we know, there are also another 5 people we need to have in life in order to thrive.

These five might not be the closest people in our lives but we do believe that if we want to continuously grow and live a balanced life, we need them to constantly remind us of the things that actually matter. Though sometimes the things that they say might not be the things we want to hear but surely, they are be helpful for our decision making.

1) Cheerleader

when you could not believe in yourself yet, this person already believed in you. Someone who roots for you and gives you confidence when you’re doubting yourself. It’s very important to have a cheerleader in life. We have to open our eyes to see these kinds of people around us that we’re really paying attention to. So, try showing appreciation to people who appreciates you because most of the time, they go out of their way showing support to other people.

2) Mentor

this person points you in the right direction or in the right path. A mentor is someone who has the willingness to share information on how they are able to grow that could be helpful to people to develop also themselves in the best ways. When looking for a mentor, find someone who’s wiser, preferably older and someone who can relate or share your core values with.

When a good mentor makes you feel safe and it is a friendly conversation instead of acting prophetic and all knowing, that’s when it becomes so much more hard- hitting and you understand it more because it’s on a personal level instead of an on-top position.

The most important thing that we have to consider when looking for a mentor is that we should first have a teachable heart because a mentor will require us to stretch and change ourselves to go in different directions. Sometimes, they might say things that we won’t like but we have to trust them because they only meant the best for us.

3) Coach

someone who is meant to make you uncomfortable so that you can maximize your potential and make things happen. This person pushes someone out of your comfort zone. Coaches could come in different forms. It could be a career coach, professional life coach, gym coach that eventually end up coaching different areas in your life.

4) Friend

someone that knows your truest heart’s desire. Someone who you can talk to about all your dreams and passion and is always her to listen. These people are the closest to our hearts because they know our truest forms. They see our flaws but still they stick around so we should not take them for granted.

5) Peers

they help you out in social situations. These people will always keep your head in the game. They share the same passion and goals through pulling each other up to the top! They are people that are around more often than not. This is our barkada, our clique, the little gang we have all the time. And if they are not making us better, they’re making us worse.

You become the five people that you most hang out with. you become the five peers that you most hang out with and I think your peers always have to challenge you as well.

If some people around us are not helping us to become a better person, then it’s time to reassess them.

One thing about being an adult is that our time is vital. We don't have a lot of it because we’re surrounded by so many different things in your life. We need to select who that time goes to and if they’re shaping us the wrong way then we need to let them go.

You have to play a role also in the life of your peers because it’s nice to have people around us but it’s also even nicer to be there for the people that we love.
