Why are people so afraid to commit these days?

○ There’s the so-called Netflix Phenomenon. It's the feeling you have when you’re looking for something to watch on Netflix, and you end up taking 2 hours before you choose a series. You’re stuck thinking that there might be something better.

○ People don’t want to commit because they always think there’s something better, or they just don’t know what they want.

Any tips for picking the right one to date?

○ Choose someone persistent (in a non-creepy way). Choose someone who will always make a way to spend time with you and make you feel special. If they stick around even after you show them your bad parts, they’re for keeps.

○ Date someone familiar, not similar. It’s good to have similar goals and lifestyles, but if it's too similar, you’ll stop learning after a while. If it’s familiar, you’re comfortable but you still have space to learn from each other and grow.

○ Know their end goal for the relationship itself. Is their end goal to get married and have kids? Or to just date casually? If your end goals are not the same, things will be difficult in the long run.

○ Date someone with the same values. Everything else can be changed, but values always stay the same.

○ Don’t date someone whose friends and family hate you. It’s just not worth the hassle.

How do you let somebody in?

○ It depends how much you want it. If you really want it, go and get it.

○ Open yourself up to new opportunities. Go online dating (There’s nothing wrong with online dating!). Join new groups of friends. Try new hobbies.

○ Learn to love meeting new people and having interesting conversations.

○ However, do not date anyone until you have fixed yourself. Don’t be with somebody that makes you whole. Be with somebody that makes you a whole lot better.

How do you beat the cute-creep scale?

○ The cute-creep scale: the cuter you are, the less likely you’ll come off as a creep. Basically, if a cute guy hits on you, you’re kilig. If a not-so-cute guy hits on you, you’ll think it’s creepy.

○ Pump yourself up. Be the hottest version of yourself: work on your career, your health, your looks and just work on bettering yourself. When you’re confident with yourself, people will notice you.

○ Remember, If nobody is paying attention to you, you’re not paying enough attention to yourself.
