Worship: Have we been doing this ALL WRONG?!

Worship isn’t just about singing songs or being on stage. It’s about keeping our hearts aligned with God in every season of life. In this episode, I’m joined by Jeff, Jem, and Harald, members of Gloryfall, a worship band and ministry devoted to helping believers encounter the presence of God, to talk about what it really means to worship beyond the music, how to check our intentions, and how to guard against pride while pointing everything back to Jesus.

What is True Worship?

True worship goes beyond Sunday services or being on stage. It’s about remembering God’s character, giving Him glory in private and public, and allowing Him to shape our hearts daily.

How to keep your heart in check

1. Check your intentions

Before going on stage or stepping into responsibilities, pause and ask: Am I here for my glory or for God’s? Intentionality matters more than performance. Don’t get caught up in the busyness of doing “good” things and forget the most important part: being present with God.

2. Watch out for pride

Compliments and recognition can easily feed pride. A true heart of worship learns to give glory back to God and not to ourselves.

How to worship in private

1. Build consistent habits

Spend time with God daily. Even 5–10 minutes can change how you live out your day.

2. Cultivate gratitude

A grateful heart guards against pride and wrong motives. Thankfulness shifts your focus from what you lack to who God is.

3. Go beyond the stage

What people see in public is only the surface. True worship shows up in your prayer life, your thoughts, and how you walk with God when no one’s watching.

This isn’t just about the moment you’re on stage, but it’s about what you leave behind after the spotlight turns off.

Encouragements for a Heart of Worship

1. Start with a prayer

If you desire to truly worship God, He will answer that prayer because he’s in the business of heart transformations.

2. Feed what you want to crave

The more you read God’s Word and spend time in prayer, the more you’ll hunger for Him

3. Remember, God is everywhere

You don’t have to wait for Sunday service. Worship God right where you are, may it be through thankfulness, prayer, or even a simple word of praise.

4. Live with gratitude and love

Love people, have meaningful conversations, and live with thankfulness. A worshipful life is marked by how you honor God both in private and with others.

At the end of the day, worship isn’t about music or performance. It’s about a life surrendered to God, giving Him glory in every season, and pointing people back to Jesus.

True worship begins when we lay down our pride and give all the glory back to God.
