Embracing the hard parts of motherhood (even when you feel like you're failing)
Motherhood is beautiful, chaotic, and life-changing all at once. In this special episode of a (very late!) Mother’s Day reflection, I open up about my journey as a mom of two, answer your questions about motherhood, and share what I’ve learned so far on this wild and wonderful ride.
Embracing the chaos of motherhood
Motherhood changes everything. It’s not about holding on to who you were before. It’s about becoming who you’re meant to be. The hardest part was letting go of my old self, but what I found was a deeper, more joyful version of me.
Why community matters more than ever
Your circle shapes your motherhood journey.
Surround yourself with people who respect your priorities as a mom.
Say yes to friendships that bring life, not guilt.
Parent yourself first
Raising kids often uncovers wounds from your own childhood. Counseling, prayer, and daily surrender to God helped me break unhealthy cycles, so I can parent my children with patience, wisdom, and grace.
Postpartum fitness: Rethinking the goal
I stopped obsessing over “losing the pregnancy weight.” Instead, I focused on becoming strong for myself and for my family. Fitness is about good nutrition, regular movement, and honoring the body God gave me.
“It’s not about getting back to your old body, but it’s about becoming strong enough to carry your kids, play with them, and actually enjoy this season of life.
”
Homeschooling & parenting
I’ve been seriously considering homeschooling, but I know every child is different. What matters most is prayerful discernment and being open to the unique path God sets for each of our kids.
Parenting resources that inspired me
Books like “Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles” by Paul David Tripp and “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” by John Mark Comer have shaped how I show up as a parent and as a follower of Christ.
Celebrate the small wins
One of the biggest mom wins is seeing your kids love and care for each other. These small, everyday victories remind me that God’s grace is more than enough.
Motherhood is chaos, growth, and grace all at once. Start where you are, lean on your community, and trust that God is shaping you into the mom your kids need.
